The legendary volunteer “Uncle Hrysha” came to Odesa at the invitation of the NGO “Free and Faithful”

A 77-year-old volunteer known throughout Ukraine, Hryhoriy Yanchenko, better known as Uncle Hrysha, visited Odesa.

He was met at the railway station by his colleagues from the Free and Faithful NGO, who organized the visit.

“I am very pleased that I have finally arrived in the south of our country – Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kherson, and now Kropyvnytskyi will join us,” the volunteer said.

According to Odessans from the Free and Faithful NGO, Uncle Hrysha is an extraordinary person and an example of a true patriot. He is a former paratrooper who was seriously wounded in 1968, but even this did not stop him from becoming an active volunteer since the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war. Since 2014, Uncle Hrysha has been raising funds for Ukraine’s defenders. Today, he travels around the cities of Ukraine and goes to the east, delivering drones, starliners, generators and medicines to our defenders. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he has raised UAH 4.5 million for the needs of the Armed Forces on his own.

Even when his hometown came under occupation in 2022, he did not give up and continued his mission, collecting donations for the Armed Forces in occupied Kherson. We are proud of people like Hryhoriy Yanchenko and do our best to make sure that as many people as possible learn about his cause,” the young colleagues of the famous volunteer say.
